(GET A BUTANE DETECTOR/ALARM!!!!!)

PARTS NEEDED:

1) $4000 BHOGART LFE EXTRACTION UNIT:

material cylinder, solvent chamber, collection chamber, hoses, clamps, etc.

2) $350 VACUUM PUMP (ask bhogart why there is such a price differential ($350 jumps to $2000-$6000) - Bhogart:

This is for pulling the vacuum on the system (prior to introducing the solvent into the system).. this one is not for recovery or (heat)purging

3) $1000 RECOVERY PUMP:

This is for recovering of solvent in the system.. here is a REALLY nice one from welch. The 1402 Pump, but not built as explosion-proof

THE RECOVERY PUMP IS THE WORKHORSE; IT HAS TO COMPRESS THE BUTANE BACK TO LIQUID SOLVENT!!

The ideal pumps would be only chemical-duty, oil-free pumps such as diaphragm pumps or dry-scroll pumps

4) $1200 HEAT EXCHANGER:

this is used to regulate the heat in order to more efficiently recover solvent

5) $50 WATER HEATER & THERMOMETER system

6) $75 REFRIGERATION SCALE:

needed for pre and post solvent tank weighing

7) $50 WATER PUMP:

needed for circulation of water bath(s)

TOTAL (so far) = $8k
we can squeeze it down some, but it seems like that the rate of solvent loss over time would quickly justify the recovery pump and heat exchanger cost, and the quality of the product is tied to the quality of purge .. but rebuilt is always an option..hmmmmmm

A CLOSED-LOOP solvent recovery system requires a good vacuum pump.
We should avoid buying such a critical system component as a PUMP from
the place we get the extractor at. Bhogart doesn't make the pumps,
so we will get taxed for the convenience of their on-hand selection.
So, we go to places which specialize in laboratory equipment, like

We want to have equipment which is reliable and can sustain constant pull, so we avoid shitty chinese crap like at harbor freight.
I would like to get the WELSH 1402 belt-driven 2-stage pump. This pump is robust and so should last a long time. It is a known pump for all different kinds of laboratories. Although the company may not be local, the product is solid and reputable, but check on explosion-resistance!
The flow rate for the 1405 is 3.2 cubic feet per minute (cfm) and BHOGART gives nominal cfm ratings at 3-5cfm
we can get a

rebuilt Welch 1402 pump for $1400

or get

a new one for $2500.

aside from the Welch 1402, a

Welch 1405

will do as substitutes.

Too Much Vacuum Can Really Suck When it comes to botanical extraction, bigger is not necessarily better, and it’s possible to have too much of a good thing. For solvent or moisture purging, the key is to remove the solvents without removing the cannabinoids, terpenes or anything else. Edwards-nXDS-6i_02 Vacuum percentage is measured in inches of mercury or millimeters of mercury (torr). At 29.88 inches of mercury (1 Torr) most cannibinoids and terpenes stay in solution. Below 1 Torr, cannibinoids – including Delta-9-THC (a.k.a. “the good stuff”) – begin to boil and purge. That’s not what you want. This is why we recommend pumps like the Welch 2052B, which can be left running with the vacuum valve open and will hold the perfect oven atmosphere without going over, which is the ideal way to purge as quickly and efficiently as possible. The Agilent Varian IDP-3, which is capable of pulling a deeper vacuum, can also be adjusted to create perfect purge conditions.

BHOGART® 6″ Horizontal LFE Extractor kit

The BHOGART® Horizontal Extractor is the result of years of research and experimentation.

BHOGART’s® signature horizontal design allows you to run extractions back to back! The little brother, or “LFE” of Continuous Extraction Systems, the 6″ Horizontal LFE Extractor comes with one 3″ x 48″ Material tube. These tubes can be interchanged while the rest of the system is running to maximize your production scale.

Here at BHOGART® we completely redesigned our technology from the ground up, considering modularity, efficiency, and advanced solvent recovery techniques. Through many years of research and product testing we invented an entirely new class of extractor.

The new Continuous Extractors™ are designed to run without ever stopping. Older “batch-style” extractors need to be disassembled, cleaned and repacked before you can run them again. Continuous Extractors save time and money by running and recovering multiple extractions in parallel.

The BHOGART® 6″ Horizontal Extractor can extract and recover back to back: interchange the material while recovering! All Continuous type Extractors feature a drain or dip tube, enabling effortless ejection of your extract solution for final processing.

Modular HoneyPots™ allow the solvent recovery to be finished outside of the Horizontal extractor, freeing it up for your next extraction. The material tube, evaporation chamber and HoneyPots™ can all be recovered from simultaneously or separately for maximum control and expediency.

During our research and development, we found that using a horizontal base gave us over three times the amount of surface area for solvent evaporation as the old vertical design. This means that by using the horizontal base, you can quickly recover your solvent – even with a mid-level recovery pump.

Since the new BHOGART® extractors use a heat exchange system to recondense recovered vapor, the solvent tank sits at a higher pressure without the need for a cold bath. This offers greater control over the pressure of the tank. During extraction, the higher pressure allows the solvent to flow more quickly through your material tubes, resulting in a higher quality extract.

During recovery, the Vapor Recovery Recycler is used to vent the desired amount of pressurized gas out of the recovery tank and back through the recovery system. Recycling your pressurized vapors reduces the load on your recovery pump, significantly extending its life and efficiency.

Instead of disassembling the BHOGART® 6″ Horizontal Extractor to collect the extract, we have outfitted our new machines with a drain spout which connects to a 6-inch HoneyPot™. This allows you to squirt out your extract while in a liquid form into this separate collection chamber without having to turn off and disassemble your machine. The honey pot can be submersed in dry ice for an alcohol-free winterization or simply recovered, opened up and collected from while the rest of the system is still running.

The BHOGART® 6″ Horizontal Extractor is built for entrepreneurs who wish to maximize efficiency and quality while minimizing cost.

From the date of delivery, customers have 15 business days to open and inspect all crates and boxes.
